Need a Break From Screen Time?

Non-screen Time Fun

Over the past few months, our screen time use has definitely increased.  I do not feel guilty – neither should you.   It is totally okay to be flexible during these unconventional times.  If you are looking to take a break from screen time, this list is for you.

Brain Gyms & 3-D Puzzles

After a summer like 2020, a good mental workout may be overdue.  These games help with critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, and especially logic – all while having fun. While these games may require a little guidance to get started, all can be enjoyed independently. With such a variety on the market, there is something for everyone.

Puzzles

There are endless brands of puzzles that come in 10 to 1000 pieces.  Puzzles help with logic, concentration, problem-solving skills, and so much more.  Younger children benefit from hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and strengthening fine motor skills.  My five-year-old has worked her way to independently completing 100 piece puzzles.  Next, we plan to tackle a 500 piece round puzzle as a family activity.  You can finish these at your leisure with no pressure. The feeling of accomplishment is priceless.

We have a few Ravensburger puzzles and recently tried a 100 piece solar system puzzle by eeboo. Eeboo is woman-owned and sustainably sourced. Their beautiful puzzle art is commissioned from children’s book illustrators.
