How to Get a Free Book-a-Month

Books help transport children to new and far away places — introducing them to new adventures, characters, different perspectives, cultures, and depth of language.  For up to five years, the Dollywood Foundation offers kids, in five countries, a free book a month.

In 1995, through the Dollywood Foundation, Dolly Parton founded and launched the Imagination Library.  The program later expanded to a national effort for kids in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.  By the end of 2018, over 113.7 million books had been sent since inception.  This special initiative mails a FREE age-appropriate book every month to children from birth to age five.

We are avid readers.  While regular trips to our local library are always a joy, the anticipation of a new title arriving in the mail is truly special.  My daughter loves the mystery of what the specially curated book will be.

Free Books:  Birth to Age Five

According to their website, “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a high quality, age-appropriate book to all registered children, addressed to them, at no cost to the child’s family”.  Visit the Imagination Library website to get more details on availability in your area,  how it works, and sign up.  I promise you will not be disappointed.
