Growing up, the most anticipated dessert was my grandmother’s yellow cake with homemade salted caramel icing. So, naturally, I am fairly obsessed with all things salted caramel. You can whip up a homemade batch quickly. Use it on a variety of treats, including our chocolate salted caramel popcorn.

Ingredients
1 cup turbinado sugar
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup heavy cream
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
Add sugar and water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
Once the sugar mixture is dissolved and turns an amber color remove it from the heat. Add butter and stir until well combined.
Return the pan to heat. Stir.
Slowly add heavy cream and continue stirring. The mixture will bubble.
Boil the sauce for 3-4 minutes.
Remove mixture from the heat and stir in salt and vanilla.
Add to a jar and allow to cool for 20 minutes.
Tighten the lid and refrigerate.
Notes
You may substitute turbinado sugar for cane sugar.
